On 11-12 May 2017, the Global Office conducted an expert meeting on Master Sampling Frames for Fisheries and Aquaculture. The main objectives of the meeting were (i) to share experience on frame construction for Fisheries and Aquaculture surveys and discuss sampling and estimation issues; and (ii) to discuss the methodological proposals of the consultants. International experts and colleagues within the Global Strategy (GS) and the FAO Fisheries and Aquaculture Department (FIAS) were also invited to attend.
Documents elaborated by both the GS and FIAS were presented and a number of international experts delivered presentations based on their experiences in fisheries’ statistics. This led to an open discussion on the purposes of the line of research, the methodology and the field test protocol.
Publication of the final methodological document is expected in October 2017.
