As part of the Technical Assistance component of the Global Strategy, three missions were organized in Zimbabwe to provide support in the areas of Harvest and Post-Harvest Losses.
The 27th session of the Asia and Pacific Commission on Agricultural Statistics (APCAS) concluded with the active participation of senior statisticians from a record number of 30 countries, including 10 Pacific Island Countries (PICs).
The Central Statistics Office (CSO), the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Livestock and the Global Office of the Global Strategy to improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics implemented a technical assistance (TA) program on Agricultural Cost of Production statistics (AgCoP) from March 2017 to January 2018 through a series of activities including technical training and support in conducting a pilot survey.
The research line “Improving the Methodology for Using Administrative Data in an Agricultural Statistics System” is one of the key priorities of the Global Strategy’s research programme.
The Global Strategy organized a three-day workshop on Supply Utilization Account (SUA) /Food Balance Sheet (FBS) data validation in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar on 27-29 December 2017. read more
The Global Office (GO) of the Global Strategy, in collaboration with the Ghana Statistical Services (GSS) and the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), has launched the AGRIS pilot survey in four selected districts of the Ashanti Region in Ghana.

The Global Office of the Global Strategy to improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics (GSARS) in collaboration with the FAO Statistics Division conducted an expert group meeting on the research topic «Improving Rural Statistics» on 22-24 January 2018 at FAO headquarters in Rome.
The Agricultural Integrated Survey (AGRIS) is a farm-based modular ten-year sample survey programme, developed by the Global Strategy to Improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics that aims to address the challenges that most developing countries face in generating quality and disaggregated data on the technical, economic, environmental and social dimensions of agricultural holdings, using a cost-effective approach.
As any other statistical methodology, AGRIS requires adequate testing to ensure that it is statistically sound, easy to implement and able to address the ever increasing data demand.
