Ahead of ICAS VII, the Global Office of the Global Strategy to improve Agricultural and Rural Statistics, conducted a two-day Training and Outreach Workshop on Agricultural Surveys.
The objectives were three fold:
- to disseminate the main sound and cost-effective methodological proposals developed under the Global Strategy
- to discuss papers related to the measurement of agricultural phenomena
- to bring country partners and experts together to share knowledge and experience in implementing the most demanded statistical methods
The participants in the Training Workshop included 60 academics, experts and managers from National Statistical systems and Ministries of Agriculture from all over the world. Several topics of the Global Strategy’s Research component were presented and followed by in-depth discussions wherein participants provided their insights and experiences. These contributions will play a key role in ensuring that the methodologies developed by the Global Office are robust and applicable across countries.
