Pragmatic policies and selective government interventions to alleviate extreme rural poverty require that the living standards and well-being of rural dwellers be measured and monitored. Nevertheless, the majority of developing countries lack the ability and capability to produce sufficient and consistent factual data required for evidence-based policies aimed at reducing rural poverty.

Mainstreaming gender in agricultural statistics

The objective of this research project conducted in the framework of the Global Strategy and in close collaboration with the FAO-ESS division is to provide guidance to countries on mainstreaming sex-disaggregated data and gender indicators in agricultural statistics, with a special focus on large-scale agricultural surveys and agricultural modules included in other surveys.
